    Studies on some active components and antimicrobial activities of the fermentation broth of endophytic fungi DZY16 Isolated from Eucommia ulmoides Oliv.

    Research into plant-derived endophytic fungi has grown in recent decades. Endophytic fungi still have enormous potential to inspire and influence modern agriculture. In this study, the endophytic fungi DZY16 isolated from Eucommia ulmoides Oliv. was tested for its bioactive components and antimicrobial activities using phenol-sulfuric acid method, high performance liquid chromatography method and growth inhibition measurements. The results show that variation trend of extracellular polysaccharide content at different growth stages of the strain DZY16 and the maximum content of extracellular polysaccharide was 2.02 g/L at the sixth day. Moreover, the fermentation broth of the DZY16 contained guanosine, uridine and adenosine; the contents were 1.54 mg/g, 1.07 mg/g and 1.36 mg/g respectively. On the other hand, the strongest antimicrobial activity was exhibited by the acetylacetate extract of strain DZY16 against Rhizoctonia solani and Gibberella zeae, showing 59.84 and 70.86% respectively. The strain DZY16 was identified by internal transcribed spacer (ITS) sequence as belonging to Nigrospora.     Gn blending multiple surfaces in polar coordinates

    International audienceThis paper proposes a method of Gn blending multiple parametric surfaces in polar coordinates. It models the geometric continuity conditions of parametric surfaces in polar coordinates and presents a mechanism of converting a Cartesian parametric surface into its polar coordinate form. The basic idea is first to reparameterize the parametric blendees into the form of polar coordinates. Then they are blended simultaneously by a basis function in the complex domain. To extend its compatibility, we also propose a method of converting polar coordinate blending surface into N NURBS patches. One application of this technique is to fill N-sided holes. Examples are presented to show its feasibility and practicability

    Vehicle Detection Based on Deep Dual-Vehicle Deformable Part Models

    Vehicle detection plays an important role in safe driving assistance technology. Due to the high accuracy and good efficiency, the deformable part model is widely used in the field of vehicle detection. At present, the problem related to reduction of false positivity rate of partially obscured vehicles is very challenging in vehicle detection technology based on machine vision. In order to address the abovementioned issues, this paper proposes a deep vehicle detection algorithm based on the dual-vehicle deformable part model. The deep learning framework can be used for vehicle detection to solve the problem related to incomplete design and other issues. In this paper, the deep model is used for vehicle detection that consists of feature extraction, deformation processing, occlusion processing, and classifier training using the back propagation (BP) algorithm to enhance the potential synergistic interaction between various parts and to get more comprehensive vehicle characteristics. The experimental results have shown that proposed algorithm is superior to the existing detection algorithms in detection of partially shielded vehicles, and it ensures high detection efficiency while satisfying the real-time requirements of safe driving assistance technology

    A New Algorithm for Boolean Operations on General Polygons

    International audienceA new algorithm for Boolean operations on general planar polygons is presented. It is available for general planar polygons (manifold or non-manifold, with or without holes). Edges of the two general polygons are subdivided at the intersection points and touching points. Thus, the boundaryof the Boolean operation resultant polygon is made of some whole edges of the polygons after the subdivision process. We use the simplex theory to build the basic mathematical model of the new algorithm. The subordination problem between an edge and a polygon is reduced to a problem of determining whether a point is on some edges of some simplices or inside the simplices, and the associated simplicial chain of the resultant polygon is just an assembly of some simplices and their coefficients of the two polygons after the subdivision process. Examples show that the running time required bythe new algorithm is less than one-third of that bythe Rivero and Feito algorithm

    A point-in-polygon method based on a quasi-closest point

    International audienceThis paper presents a numerically stable solution to a point-in-polygon problem by combining the orientation method and the uniform subdivision technique. We define first a quasi-closest point that can be locally found through the uniform subdivision cells, and then we provide the criteria for determining whether a point lies inside a polygon according to the quasi-closest point. For a large number of points to be tested against the same polygon, the criteria are employed to determine the inclusion property of an empty cell as well as a test point. The experimental tests show that the new method resolves the singularity of a test point on an edge without loss of efficiency. The GIS case study also demonstrates the capability of the method to identify which region contains a test point in a map

    Polar NURBS surface with curvature continuity

    International audiencePolar NURBS surface is a kind of periodic NURBS surface, one boundary of which shrinks to a degenerate polarpoint. The specific topology of its control-point mesh offers the ability to represent a cap-like surface, which iscommon in geometric modeling. However, there is a critical and challenging problem that hinders its application:curvature continuity at the extraordinary singular pole. We first propose a sufficient and necessary condition ofcurvature continuity at the pole. Then, we present constructive methods for the two key problems respectively:how to construct a polar NURBS surface with curvature continuity and how to reform an ordinary polar NURBSsurface to curvature continuous. The algorithms only depend on the symbolic representation and operations ofNURBS, and they introduce no restrictions on the degree or the knot vectors. Examples and comparisons demonstratethe applications of the curvature-continuous polar NURBS surface in hole-filling and free-shape modeling

    Advances in epigenetic research of adolescent idiopathic scoliosis and congenital scoliosis

    Scoliosis is a three-dimensional structural deformity of the spine; more than 80% of scoliosis has no specific pathogenesis but is understood to be closely related to genetic, hormonal, and environmental factors. In recent years, the epigenetic alterations observed in scoliosis have been analyzed in numerous studies to determine the pathogenesis and progression of this condition, however, there is currently no comprehensive review of the epigenetic factors to date. We searched PubMed, Embase, and Web of Science databases for relative studies without language and date restrictions in March 2023. Twenty-five studies were included in this review and analyzed from the four main aspects of epigenetic alteration: DNA methylation, non-coding RNAs, histone modifications, and chromatin remodeling. The relationship between DNA methylation, non-coding RNAs, and scoliosis was considerably reported in the literature, and the corresponding related signaling pathways and novel biomarkers observed in scoliosis provide insights into innovative prevention and treatment strategies. However, the role of histone modifications is rarely reported in scoliosis, and few studies have investigated the relationship between scoliosis and chromatin remodeling. Therefore, these related fields need to be further explored to elucidate the overall effects of epigenetics in scoliosis

    Filling n-sided regions with G1 triangular Coons B-spline patches

    International audienceFilling n-sided regions is an essential operation in shape and surface modeling. Positional and tangential continuities are highly required in designing and manufacturing. We propose a method for filling n-sided regions with untrimmed triangular Coons B-spline patches, preserving G1 continuity exactly. The algorithm first computes a central point, a central normal, the central, and the corner derivative vectors. Then the region is split into n triangular areas by connecting the central point to each corner of the boundary. These inner curves and all cross-boundary derivatives are computed fulfilling G1 compatibility conditions. And finally, the triangular patches are generated in the Coons B-spline form, one boundary of which is regressed to the central vertex. Neither positional nor tangential error is introduced by this method. And only one degree elevation is needed
